The Sandstone Way is a relatively new cycle route from Berwick upon Tweed to Hexham taking you through some of the more rural, rugged and beautifully unspoilt areas of Northumberland.
With a total distance of 120 miles, and following a natural sandstone ridge the Sandstone Way route can be ridden either North to South or South to North. This route is designed for those on Mountain bikes with a reasonably good level of ability and fitness and is probably a harder and more technically difficult route than the C2C. We suggest a 2, 3 or 4 day itinerary for this route.
DO NOT ATTEMPT THE SANDSTONE WAY ROUTE ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN A MOUNTAIN BIKE, THERE ARE SOME SERIOUSLY ROUGH OFF ROAD SECTIONS.
