HOLIDAY OVERVIEW

The C2C2C (Sea to Sea to Sea) cycle ride is a tremendous 12 night (9 days riding) sightseeing tour across Northern England, you will start out on the east coast at Tynemouth with your rear wheel in the North Sea and head west along Hadrians Wall to the far west coast at Whitehaven (160miles), before turning back and heading through the Northern Lake District and over the challenging Pennine Hills (The backbone of England) before finishing 15 miles from where you started in Sunderland.

On the way you will cycle along the ancient Roman Wall constructed by Emperor Hadrian in AD122. Built as a 76 mile defensive structure to keep out the Celts from the North (Scotland) invading the newly acquired Northern region of Britain.

We will stop over at Haltwhistle on the way west and spend a day on foot exploring the Wall and the remains of the Roman settlement at Vindolanda http://www.vindolanda.com/ which is still being excavated. At it’s peak there were over 50,000 Roman troops defending the Wall from various forts and fortifications along it’s route.
When we reach the west coast we will dip our front wheel in to the Irish Sea to prove we have completed the Sea to Sea ride.

On the return journey you will stop over for a day to enjoy the Lakeland market town of Keswick and all it has to offer. Surrounded by mountains and sitting on the northern shore of Derwent Water, Keswick http://www.keswick.org/what-to-do/attractions is arguably one of the prettiest towns in the Lake District. Spend the day walking in the hills, cycling, or just enjoying the local hostelries and relaxed atmosphere before we start heading for the Pennine Hills and the most challenging part of the ride!

On the last day we will stop off at the world famous Beamish Open Air Museum, set in different ages from the 1820’s right through to the 1940’s there is something for everyone, including trams, a farm, a colliery, authentic shops and many other experiences long since disappeared in modern life. https://www.beamish.org.uk/

WHAT'S INCLUDED

cycle transport

Transport

Depending upon where you spend your first night, we can put you up in either at the start or the finish or your route or even somewhere in between. We will supply you with transport to the start of the route or from the end of the route back to your vehicle, train station or airport.
We can also collect you from your home location, transfer you to the start and take you back from the finish to home, this is very popular with larger groups and can work out quite cost effective.
We operate three fully licenced 8 seater minibuses and cycle trailers so that your ride across is in comfort.
Bikes are stored individually and packed out with high density foam where necessary.
cycle holiday accommodation

We only use good quality, cycle friendly, accommodation that is on, or close to the cycle route, generally guest houses, small hotels or inns. All accommodation is on a Bed & Breakfast basis with a full cooked breakfast and vegetarian options always available. You will receive general information about the route, detailed maps of where your accommodation is each night, a list of cycle repair shops along the route along with other emergency contact numbers in case of any major or minor mishaps. We will also send you out a recommended list of what we believe you will require for your ride. We now also have gpx/strava files that are available should you have a garmin type navigator.

If you do have a disaster and are totally stuck, either physically, mentally or mechanically, then we offer an emergency recovery service (up to 4 hour response) to get you off the route and to safety. May be chargeable depending upon circumstances.
