2021 – What’s it going to give us??

I think we were all happy to see the end of 2020, unfortunately there is still lots of worry and concern out there for this Covid-19 and it’s associated versions!

What does this mean for the cycling season, holidays, trips and travel?

Personally I think all we can do is work with what we know and hope for the best, which in our case is continue to plan trips on all of our UK routes and try and make them all memorable experiences for the right reasons.  I don’t envisage a large number of visitors coming to the UK from overseas, for obvious reasons, not least of which is the current uncertainty.

However, lots of you out there (mainly UK resident) have already either rebooked your cancelled 2020 trip with us, or in a lot of cases, booked your very first ever multi-day cycle trip through us, which is great.

One positive of 2020 and especially the first lockdown in March – June was that many of us got out in our local areas, either walking, cycling or jogging and found new and interested areas that we’d never even bother looking at before.  From this we have realised that the UK has much to offer and we want to see more of it.

Has our demographic changed?  Not massively, we’re still taking  bookings for groups of riders, however what we are seeing is a growth in the number of people who are requesting “Single Rooms” and also “Luxury Upgrades”.

Theres a growing number of “family” groups booking for 2021 and even 2022, which we love to see.

The other big change has been the rise of the eBike cyclist, many of you have purchased an ebike, many others have booked one of our ebikes for your trip.  Our new ebikes are the Merida Espresso 500EQ, which comes with a long haul 630wH battery, which should be good for 70+miles.  We’re now up to 18 ebikes in our stock in both unisex and step in frames.

Accommodation is going to be the big stumbling block for 2021, many small and large accommodation providers have decided to cease trading altogether, leaving a massive hole in availability.  We would therefore recommend not to delay too long in making your decisions in 2021, otherwise the Inn may already be full.
